Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) serves as the Village of Oak Brook’s GIS consultant and has supported the Village’s implementation of indoor mapping technologies.

Using ArcGIS Indoors, GHA developed digital indoor mapping applications that allow users to view interior floor plans, search building spaces, and access facility information through a centralized GIS platform. Existing floor plans and GIS datasets were migrated into a cloud-based GIS environment designed to support interactive mapping, mobile accessibility, and long-term data management.

The indoor mapping system was structured to support future expansion and integration with additional Village GIS applications and datasets. GHA also incorporated 3D GIS visualization capabilities and web-based mapping tools to provide a more detailed and accessible representation of Village facilities. Ongoing GIS support services include application maintenance, data updates, and continued development of GIS resources as operational needs evolve.

To ensure maximum spatial accuracy, GHA used Matterport LiDAR scanning technology to map the interior spaces. This high-density scanning allowed us to efficiently build the base maps and floor plans for the ArcGIS Indoors deployment. By embedding interactive Matterport 3D viewers directly into the Village’s GIS applications, users can virtually walk through the facilities and interact with asset data in real time.

Beyond indoor mapping, GHA continues to provide ongoing GIS consulting and application support services for the Village, including web-based GIS tools, GIS infrastructure maintenance, data updates, and development of additional GIS resources as operational needs evolve. The Village’s GIS program also incorporates public-facing mapping tools, cloud-hosted GIS infrastructure, and advanced spatial visualization capabilities through GHA’s GUIDE platform.
