The residents of Rolling Ridge Road were interested in improving their private street, turning over the maintenance responsibility of the sanitary sewers, and installing a public water main in order to transfer from well water to Lake Michigan water. Funding a project of this size privately between the homeowners was going to be a challenge to ensure everyone agreed on the improvements. GHA assisted the residents and the Village in formation of a Special Service Area (SSA) to pay for the improvements.

GHA worked with the residents from the onset of the project to secure easements for the proposed water main installation, coordinated installation of a private storm sewer system to alleviate flooding and surface ponding on and adjacent to the roadway, and developed plans for these improvements that included a looped water main into the Medline campus to the west of the subdivision.

GHA’s involvement was integral in ensuring the SSA was formed, the proper easements were secured from the residents, the design was conducted to minimize impacts on the residents during construction, and that during construction coordination and management of the residents’ expectations was handled in the field to limit the complaints to Village staff.

The project was completed on schedule and under the established SSA budget.
