Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) partnered with the Village of Northbrook to deliver the FY 2024/25 Watermain and Roadway Improvements Project, which involved replacing approximately 15,000 linear feet of aging 8-inch watermain and reconstructing two miles of local roadways. This comprehensive infrastructure project addressed critical needs for water service reliability and roadway performance across the Village.

The project began with extensive Phase I engineering, during which GHA collaborated with the Village to assess existing conditions and identify project priorities. This phase laid the groundwork for the design process, resolving utility conflicts and coordinating with the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH) for work on county-managed roadways.

The design phase included detailed topographic surveys and utility coordination, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure. Navigating the permitting process with the CCDOTH required detailed planning and design adjustments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

The final design documents addressed both the watermain installation and roadway reconstruction, balancing technical precision with the Village’s long-term infrastructure goals. By coordinating closely with stakeholders and permitting agencies, GHA ensured a streamlined process that minimized disruption and allowed for successful construction.
