Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) provided surveying and civil site design services for improvements at the Vernon Hills Park District’s Lakeview Fitness and Little Learners Child Care facility. The project included a building addition, parking expansion, stormwater management improvements, utility design, and additions to the paved walking path surrounding the facility.

GHA completed boundary and existing-conditions topographic surveys to document property limits, site elevations, pavement, utilities, drainage infrastructure, sidewalks, landscaping, and other visible improvements.

The site plan included 22 additional parking spaces and a 3,300-square-foot building addition at the northeast corner of the property. GHA also addressed reconstruction of the berm along the Lakeview frontage and extensions to the paved walking path to support accessibility and circulation around the facility.

GHA evaluated expanding the existing detention pond on the rear outlot and installing underground detention beneath the parking lot. Preliminary stormwater plans, calculations, and floodplain considerations were developed to support compliance with Village of Vernon Hills and Lake County Stormwater Management Commission requirements.

Following preliminary site plan approval, GHA’s work included final engineering plans for grading, pavement, sanitary and storm sewer systems, water utilities, and stormwater management. GHA also coordinated the civil design with other project disciplines and supported the permitting process with the applicable review agencies.
