The Village of Grayslake retained Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA) to assist in infrastructure improvements throughout the community. After completion of Phase I and Phase II engineering, GHA provided construction engineering for roadway improvements on 1.5 miles of Lake Street, from Center Street to IL Rte. 83. The intersections with Washington Street (LCDOT) and IL Rte. 83 (IDOT) were omitted. Curb and gutter were added from Washington Street to IL Rte. 83. The project also included improving the existing crosswalks and sidewalk ramps throughout the project limits to ADA standards, as well as improving the pavement condition and transition at the CN Railroad crossing.

During construction, GHA’s Resident Engineer (RE) provided communications relative to road closures, delays, and schedules via a project website, and, personally, to local residents, commuters, pedestrians, postal carriers, refuse collectors, business owners, and stakeholders. Our RE’s effective communication, provided for positive public relations.
