Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA) completed the design, permitting and construction phase services for the East Leyden High School Multi-purpose Athletic Field and Tennis Courts.

The project included improvements to the north half of the school campus and built upon a 2017-2018 school enlargement for which GHA prepared site engineering and surveying. The athletic field/courts project encompassed approximately 5.4 acres of the 17.1 acre property.

The synthetic turf field was built up to provide stone void storage beneath the outskirts of the field and allow overland flow paths the existing stormwater detention basin constructed in 2018. Volume control storage was provided within a 20’ stone trench beneath the walking track.

A large diameter 100-year overflow pipe had to be installed beneath the tennis courts to provide basin overflow to the site emergency release location.
