The District 1860 development consists of approximately 84,000 square-feet of retail/restaurant space, 300 residential units and a 224-key hotel on the approximately 8.5-acre site at the northwest corner of Touhy Avenue and Lincoln Avenue (US Route 41) in Lincolnwood. The site formerly contained the Purple Hotel and was vacant for many years.

GHA assisted the developer through a lengthy entitlement process with the Village for the unique urban style development that features a central plaza that can be closed off to vehicles with retractable bollards to create a pedestrian friendly special events space. Stormwater management is provided in an underground vault below the main parking lot. Internal vehicular circulation was carefully planned to balance the needs of emergency vehicles, delivery trucks and pedestrian/customer experience.

GHA also designed the adjacent offsite roadway improvements on Touhy Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, required to support the development. These improvements include signal modifications at three adjacent intersections as well as lighting and roadway improvement on 3,000 feet of adjacent roadways.
