Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA) has been assisting the Chicago Botanic Garden with a variety of projects since 2011. One recent improvement which has received critical acclaim is the Regenstein Learning Campus. This 7-acre horticultural campus is home to an environmental discovery center and nature playground. The new 26,700-square-foot Learning Center facility provides 12 classrooms and a nature laboratory and is home to the Garden’s Nature Preschool. The multi-sensory Nature Play Garden includes natural landforms and mowed paths, incorporating native trees, sculpted landforms, a channel run, a willow tunnel, and large boulders, facilitating experiential learning through play.

The project was certified LEED Platinum through the US Green Building Council and received the American Society of Landscape Architects 2017 General Design Award of Honor and Engineering News Record Midwest 2017 Award of Merit – Culture/Worship.
