Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) provided civil engineering and site development services for the Buffalo Grove High School Campus Athletic Improvements for Township High School District 214. The multi-phase project redeveloped the north side of campus with athletic facilities, utility improvements, and stormwater management solutions designed to address long-standing drainage issues.
Phase I included improvements on the northwest side of campus, including a varsity girls’ softball field with enclosed dugouts, a multi-sport synthetic turf field with lighting, a batting cage, 12 tennis courts, and a central concession building with restrooms, ticketing, and storage. Site improvements also included landscape planting areas, utility extensions, and stormwater infrastructure designed to connect with future improvements.
Phase II completed the northeast portion of the campus improvements. This phase included a varsity boys’ baseball field with dugouts and a double batting cage, upgraded fencing and netting, parking improvements, and a 7.5 acre-foot underground stormwater detention system beneath the baseball field.
GHA led civil engineering efforts from planning and design through construction, including construction document preparation, permitting, public meeting support, and on-site construction observation with NPDES compliance monitoring. The completed project provides updated athletic facilities while addressing campus drainage through coordinated site, utility, and stormwater improvements.
