At GHA, every principal, including myself, is involved in projects on a daily basis, keeping us in tune with the state of the art and the needs of our clients. We have now grown to two offices (Vernon Hills and Gurnee, Illinois), and a staff of over seventy employees. Our Staff turnover rate is exceptionally low, providing high continuity from year to year and project to project. Several clients have had the same senior professional as their primary contact for over twenty years!! Both client and employee satisfaction with GHA remains excellent.

GHA is committed to moving forward in an industry which is re-developing much of its thinking rapidly. When new approaches, products, analysis tools, and methods of design are developed, we investigate and learn about each as rapidly as possible. The best ones, with the greatest likelihood of success, are made part of our toolbox of skills and information to assist our clients. Following are some of the recent innovations and approaches adopted in the firm:

High Definition Surveying – an innovative piece of surveying equipment, allowing us to digitally scan a wide variety of surfaces including vertical, horizontal and overhead, and reducing the images to a standard topographic survey. Among other advantages, we can survey a dangerous location, such as an expressway, without staff entering the lanes or shutting down the roadway.
Green Site Development – Stormwater has been considered a liability in the past, and is now understood to be an asset, when handled properly. The use of native prairie landscapes, rain gardens, pretreatment areas, porous pavement, and other “Green” approaches will improve our environment, while decreasing our energy needs, and decreasing the damage caused by mishandling stormwater.

Since our founding a quarter of a century ago, GHA has had a firm commitment to client service. Initially, we primarily served area municipal agencies, however, that has grown to include park and school districts, hospitals, counties, and state government, as well as private developers.

Our service approach has helped us retain desirable clients through period of many years and multiple projects. Many of our clients have been with us for ten to twenty-five years.

As a firm, we have a strong commitment to considering the public health, welfare, and safety on any design, study, and assessment. This focus has protected our clients, as well as their users, and we expect that benefit will continue throughout our future!
